Travel Tips - India

Any attempt to sum up India in a brief appraisal is almost by definition doomed to fail. However, in over more than 20 years of welcoming travellers to India one piece of advise has stayed true and is worth repeating: You will get the most out of your time in India if you travel with an open heart and an open mind.

Of course our role at Indian Panorama, from the person who plans your trip, to the operations team who make it all come together, to the driver/s who move you safely from place to place, the people who meet you along the way (we call them Guest Relations Executives, by the way) to the backroom staff in accounts, HR and so on, is to ensure that things run so smoothly that you can almost (or entirely) forget that those things are even going on.

The first important thing is to ensure you have the right trip for you, and all members of your party. The initial discussion with your Tour Planner can take anything from a handful of mails exchanged over mere days to many months. This is an important phase as there are very seldom 2 tours which are identical, and getting the perfect balance of activity and rest, the right type of hotels and so on is vital.

Travelling at the right time of year is important, but you don’t have to worry about doing too much research into this, we will tell you if your plans will see you in a place where it’s uncomfortable to travel at the time you’re considering.

Our motto is- more time, fewer places. Of course we understand that India has dozens and dozens of ‘unmissable’ places and the temptation is to try and pack as many places into the time you have as possible. But we always emphasise that travel in India, while it gets easier by the year, can still be demanding and while a 5 or 6 hour driver (with someone else behind the wheel) might seem like no big deal if you’re used to interstate highways or the like, the reality of road travel in India is that it is tiring. More important still, having multiple days in a place means you can dig deeper, see more beyond the main sights, and spend time in markets, meeting local people and so on.
