Day 1 : Chennai Arrival – Mahabalipuram
On arrival in Chennai, you will be received by our Representative and introduced to our Driver. Then drive 1.5hrs straight to Mahabalipuram which is a beautiful beach destination. On arrival check in at the hotel and relax. Overnight stay at Mahabalipuram
Day 2 : Mahabalipuram
After breakfast, engage yourself for half day to cover the major attractions which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Seashore temple renowned for its stunning architecture and scenic setting along the Bay of Bengal. It is one of the oldest structural temples in South India, showcasing intricate carvings and a blend of Dravidian architectural styles. Arjuna’s Penance, The artwork portrays a dramatic scene where Arjuna, one of the Pandava princes from the epic Mahabharata, performs intense penance to appease Lord Shiva and obtain a powerful weapon, Five Rathas or Pancha Rathas, are a remarkable group of monolithic rock-cut temples and Krishna’s Butter Ball which is a large, spherical boulder that appears to be precariously balanced on a sloped hill, creating an illusion of stability and shakiness. Later after Lunch, relax for some time and in the evening you can have a sunset stroll at the beach side. Overnight in Mahabalipuram.
Day 3 : Mahabalipuram – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram
Have a Day Excursion to Kanchipuram (one hour one way), renowned for its ancient temples and are a testament to its rich cultural and architectural heritage. Here are some key temples that you witness are Ekambereshwarar temple representing one of the five elements of nature “Earth”, Kailashanathar temple which is a fine example of early Dravidian architecture. Varadharajar temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Moreover Kanchipuram is also known for its silk sarees, if time permits, it’s really worth to visit the local weaving shops. Return back to Mahabalipuram for your overnight stay.
Day 4 : Mahabalipuram – Tiruvannamalai
Drive 3.5hours to reach Tiruvannamalai, most famous for its connection to the holy mountain Arunachala and which is considered a manifestation of Lord Shiva. The highlights of Tiruvannamalai is the Arunachaleshwarar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the Pancha Bhoota Stalams, representing the element of fire. Renowned for its annual festival during the full moon in the Tamil month of Karthigai (November-December), when devotees perform a circumambulation (Girivalam) around the sacred mountain. Furthermore you can visit Ramana Maharshi ashram, a major spiritual center in Tiruvannamalai. His teachings focus on self-inquiry and meditation. Overnight stay at Tiruvannamalai
Day 5 : Tiruvannamalai – Pondicherry
Morning proceed to Pondicherry involving 2.5hours drive. Enroute visit the Auroville meditation centre. On arrival at Pondicherry, check in at the hotel and refresh. Then proceed for the other sightseeings Aurobindo Ashram which is a significant spiritual and philosophical center founded by Sri Aurobindo and his spiritual collaborator, The Mother (Mirra Alfassa). Then to Manakula Vinayagar temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity known as the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings. Rest of the day you can relax and in the evening you can have a sunset stroll at the beach side and also walk in the white town which is a historic and charming area in Pondicherry known for its colonial architecture, serene streets, and vibrant cultural atmosphere. Day 6 : Pondicherry – Tanjore
Drive 5hrs towards Tanjore, often referred to as the "Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu”. Here witness the major attractions Brihadeeswarar Temple (Big Temple) recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by the Chola king Raja Raja Chola I in the 11th century. It is one of the greatest achievements of Chola architecture. It features a massive central dome and intricate carvings. And it is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tanjore Palace known as the Thanjavur Maratha Palace, was the residence of the Maratha rulers who succeeded the Cholas. It showcases a blend of Maratha and Dravidian architectural styles. Palace houses a museum that displays artifacts related to the Chola and Maratha periods, including sculptures, paintings, and weaponry. Tanjore paintings are a traditional form of South Indian art that originated in Tanjore. Renowned for their rich, intricate details and vibrant colors, these paintings are a significant aspect of South Indian culture and heritage. Rest of the day relax. Overnight stay at Tanjore
Day 7 : Tanjore- Trichy
Today have a 2 hours drive to Trichy. It is often referred as Rock City. Here the major attractions are Rock Fort temple, Jambukeshwarar temple which is one of the five elements of nature representing Water and Srirangam temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, renowned for its impressive Dravidian architecture, intricate carvings, and sprawling temple complex. Overnight stay at Trichy.
Day 8 : Trichy – Madurai
Again a 2.5hrs drive, you will reach Madurai which is popularly known as the Temple city. On arrival check in at the hotel and relax. Evening you can have a sunset stroll in the bazars where you can taste delicious local cuisines. Overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 9 : Madurai
Early Morning walking tour between 6:00am and 8:00am is an option where you can witness the local life of Madurai people. Later after refreshment, proceed for the sightseeing. Highlights of Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple is a typical example of Dravidian architecture. Dedicated to Meenakshi, an incarnation of the goddess Parvathi, and her consort, Sundareswarar, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Tirumalai Nayakkar Palace built by King Thirumalai Nayak, a ruler of the Nayak dynasty, in the 17th century. The construction commenced in 1636 and was completed in the early 1640s. It combines elements of Dravidian, Islamic, and European architectural styles, a hallmark of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Then to Flower Market which is a vibrant and bustling area known for its colorful and aromatic array of flowers. and Gandhi Museum houses a collection of personal belongings of Gandhi, including his spectacles, letters, and a piece of the cloth he wore.. Overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 10 : Madurai – Chennai (FLY) – Departure
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Chennai and then from Chennai airport take a flight to your home.
