The Abode of the Clouds, Meghalaya is situated on the northeastern part of India. Meghalaya is one among the wettest place in the world. With Shillong as its capital the state was dubbed as the Scotland of the East by the British.

Mawlynnong Village : Voted as Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong is a beautiful place to visit when in Meghalaya. The village is spick and span and it is very difficult to find a speck of dirt on the roads here. This place is a natural wonder in the eastern India.

Nongriat Village : Famous for its double decker root bridge, the Nongriat village is situated among the heart of the wettest place in India. This becomes one place in Meghalaya any adventurer cannot afford to miss out.

Shillong : Being the capital of Meghalaya, Shillong is a beautiful city entwined by pine trees and forests. Home to numerous waterfalls, mountain peaks and lakes, Shillong is the gateway to Meghalaya.

Tura : Situated among the west side of the Garo hills, Tura is a large town in the state of Meghalaya. This town is home to the Nokerk National Park that houses various wildlife such as leopards, Asiatic golden cat and pheasant.

Jowai : Famed for its hill settings and breathtaking views Jowai is a mix n’ match of heritage and culture of the locals. The lakes in Jowai are the main attraction in the town. The shores of river Myntdu is a famous tourist spot.

Mawsmai Cave : Meghalaya is known for its deep and mysterious caves among which the Mawsmai Cave is the most popular. Mawsmai Cave is a maze of amazing naturally formed structures where plenty of flora and fauna are found.

Dawki :Dawki’s famous river Umngot is a must visit for every tourist in Meghalaya. The town is sandwiched between Bangladesh and India proving to be major center of trade between the two countries. The boat festival during the spring in the Umngot river is particularly popular among the tourist.

Williamnagar : Named after the first chief minister of the state, Williamnagar is formed around the town of Simsannggre. It is a remote area flanked by the mountains and lakes having a rich vegetation and water.

Best Time To Visit :

Meghalaya can be seen clad in her complete beauty during the winter and summer months. Monsoon brings heavy rainfall to this area and makes it difficult for travel.

Airways : Shillong houses the Umroi airport which is a civilian airport connected to other states in the country.

Railways : The nearest railway station is at Guwahati in Assam at a distance of 180 kilometers.

By road : Meghalaya is easily accessible through roads from all places in the country.
