The region mostly enjoys a sub-tropical climatic condition. It is home to India’s highest rainfall receiving region, Meghalaya.

It experiences a hot summer and rainfall during the monsoons. The winters are mostly cool and pleasant. The extreme northern parts of Bengal witnesses snowfall during the winters. The interior states usually have drier climate when compared to other places.
