Mattupetti

Mattupetti is 15 kms away from Munnar and is famous for its dairy farm. Here more than 100 varieties of high-yielding farm animals are reared. The place also boasts a beautiful rose garden. The Mattupetti dam is just near to the farm. Visitors can enjoy boating too in this dam. Speed launch, motor boats and slow speed boat easily accessible for rent. The farm remains close in the month of Jan & Feb as cattle breed in these months.

Rajamalai : Part of the Eravikulam National Park, Rajamalai houses the endangered species of the Nilgiri Tahr. This park has become the natural habitat of the Tahr and the park is a safe sanctuary for the endangered species.

Tea Museum : The Tea Museum in Munnar is aimed at promoting the century old Tea plantations in the area. The Museum showcases the various types of Tea processing and the method of cultivating Tea from the plants.

Marayoor Sandalwood Forests : The Sandalwood forest is a natural sandalwood forest. This place is a part of the ancient Stone Age civilization dating back to the late 10,000 BCE. Various rock paintings, edicts and dolmens found in this area are a proof of its rich history.

Mattupetty Dam : The Mattupetty Dam is located at about 13 kilometers from Munnar and is a concrete gravity dam built for storage of water. It is also one of the waterholes which is visited by elephants often for a drink. Mattupetty Dairy farm : The name Mattupetty means ‘Cow Village’. Mattupetty is famous for its Indo-Swiss dairy farming. The farm is situated amidst grasslands and meadows making it an attraction for tourists.

Kundala Lake : Among the best locations for photoshoot in Munnar, the Kundala Lake is an artificial reservoir. This lake gives the facility for tourists to hire pedal boats, Shikara and row boats. The boating is a beautiful experience that allows one to enjoy the lovely nature of the lake from close.
