Ganjam

Ganjam is a district in Odisha famous for monuments, beaches, and, most importantly, cultural fairs and festivals. Natural habitat withholds bird sanctuaries along with the first brackish water lake in India, Chilika Lake, nearby, one of the major attractions of Ganjam district. The district once worked under the control of the Kalinga emperor, The Great Warrior Ashoka, during 261 BC. The district, first directed by the Madras Presidency, merged with the State of Odisha on April 1, 1936.
