Sree Gopalakrishna Devaswom Temple was built in 2007 by K. C. Nayak in Shakthinagar which is located on the outskirts of Mangalore. The five storied magnificent temple is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu in his Krishna avatar


Speciality

The temple features unique carvings, magnificent towers and a spectacular sanctum. The decorative motifs in the temple are sure to make the visitors spellbound. The top of this magnificent temple allows for a splendid view of the sea on one side and the beautiful city of Mangalore on the other.

History

The unique temple of Sree Gopalakrishna Devaswom is built with the perfect Vaastu and architecture. There are 108 steps that lead down to the basement of the Garbha where the 108 steps symbolize the 108 names of the Lord. The sacred statue of the Lord is seen sitting in the Garbha made out of black granite.

Temple Timings :

The temple functions between 5.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 4.00 pm to 8.30 pm.

Dress code :

No specific dress code is recommended for a visit to this temple. Still, costumes covering upper arms and legs are suggested as a mark of respect to the temple customs

Sankashtahara Chathurthi, Full moon days and Shukla Paksha Panchami are observed in this temple

How to reach

By Air : The nearest major airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, about 71 km away. From there, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to Kottarakkara.

By Train : Kottarakkara Railway Station is the nearest to the temple and is about 4 kilometres distance from it. One can hire a taxi or get on a local auto-rickshaw to reach the temple from the station.

By Road : It can be accessed via the NH66 and local roads. The temple is situated at a distance of about 2-3 km from the Kottarakkara bus station.
