Chottanikkara Makam Thozhal is the major festival of Chottanikkara Temple. It is celebrated every year on Makam asterism in the Malayalam month of Kumbham (mid-February – mid-March). Devotees hold a belief that the goddess revealed herself in her full divine form to Vilvumangala Swamiyar during the Makam Nakshatra. Therefore, having a darshan on Makam Nakshatra in the month of Kumbham is considered highly significant, as it is believed that prayers offered during this period will be auspiciously fulfilled.

The unique feature of Chottanikkara Temple lies in the worship of the deity Chottanikkara Devi in three distinct forms. In the morning, the idol is adorned in white attire representing Saraswati, in the afternoon, it is draped in red symbolizing Lakshmi, and in the evening, the deity is clothed in blue, embodying the form of Durga.

Dress Code
