About St. Marys Island
History
Historically, it is said that Vasco da Gama stopped here before reaching Kerala, adding a touch of maritime heritage to the island. Later these islands were announced a National Geo-heritage Monument due to the unique columnar basalt formations believed to be over a million years old.

Peak Season (October to January)
The best time to visit St. Marys Island is from October to January, when the weather is calm with temperatures hovering around 24°C to 30°C. This month offers an ideal conditions for beach walks, photography, and exploration.
Summer Season (February to May)
Summer brings warmer temperatures elevating to 30°C to 35°C. It can be scorching in midday but early mornings and late evenings are ideal for exploring. If you wish a crowd-free exploration, it could be the best season.
Monsoon Season (June to September)
Monsoon is not recommended for visiting St. Marys Island. Heavy rains, strong tides, and wild waves make ferry services unsafe and usually suspended.

How to Reach St. Marys Island (Expanded)
By Air
Mangalore International Airport is the nearest situated about 60 km from Malpe Harbour. After landing tourists can take taxis, private rentals, or KSRTC buses toward Udupi or Malpe.
By Train
Udupi Railway Station is the nearest junction located approximately 10 km from Malpe Jetty. From the station, auto rickshaws, taxis, and local buses link to the harbor.
By Road
Malpe is well-connected through NH-66,

Frequent KSRTC buses and rental cars option are available. Most tourists arrive at Malpe Jetty, where ferries operate regularly to St. Marys Island. (20–30-minute sea ride.)
