Somnath Temple
The Somnath temple is situated in Prabhas Patan, Gujarat. The temple was reconstructed many times after the invasion of the Muslims and Portugese. The present day temple stands with the Chaulukyan style of architecture. This reconstruction was completed in 1951.

The Somnath temple is believed to be the first among the 12 Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva where He was believed to have appeared as a fierce column of light. This temple is also considered sacred in Hinduism due to various legends connected to it.
History of Somnath Temple?
The exact date of when the temple was constructed is not known. But it is believed that the original Somnath temple was built by the Moon God, Chandra in gold. When this was razed down, it was rebuilt in silver by Lord Krishna. And when this came down, the Demon king Ravana rebuilt it with wood. Later after this was pulled down, King Bhimdev rebuilt it with stone.
Entry/Darshan Time:
The temple is open from 6.00 am to 9.00 pm. The aarti takes place at 7.00 am, 12.00 pm and 7.00 pm
Dress Code:
No specific dress code is recommended for a visit to this temple. Still, costumes covering upper arms and legs are suggested as a mark of respect to the temple customs.
