Sivagiri Mutt Varkala – Spiritual Site of Sree Narayana Guru
Sivagiri Temple or Sivagiri Mutt is situated atop the Sivagiri hill near Varkala in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala. It is a renowned pilgrimage center established by the revolutionary religious and social reformer Sree Narayana Guru in the 19th century. The site houses the Samadhi of Sree Narayana Guru.

In order to propagate his vision of "One Caste, One Religion, One God," Sree Narayana Guru founded an organization of his disciples and saints called Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham. And Sivagiri serves as the headquarters of the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham.
Sivagiri Temple showcases modern architecture, characterized by its pure white color and unique stepped roof resembling a gopuram. It is constructed in an octagonal shape. The temple complex includes a small museum, which was formerly the residence of Sri Narayana Guru. This museum displays the Guru's belongings, along with pictures and writings that elucidate his life and work, making it an excellent resource for learning about the ancient social system. A notable characteristic of the Sivagiri Temple in Varkala is that it does not house an idol within its sanctum and the temple welcomes visitors from all religions and faiths.
Within the Sivagiri Mutt complex, there is a shrine dedicated to Goddess Sarada which was planned and designed by Gurudevan. The idol of the goddess, pure white in color, is seated on a white lotus, symbolizing knowledge flourishing from purity. Devotees also revere her as Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and music.
The pilgrimage to Sivagiri, held annually between December 30 and January 1, attracts numerous devotees and tourists who come to pay their respects and partake in the spiritual atmosphere.

People of all castes and religions are welcome to enter Sivagiri Temple.
Dress Code
There is no strict dress code enforced at Sivagiri Temple. But, it's advisable to dress modestly and respectfully, preferably in traditional attire, while visiting the temple. Devotees participating in the Sivagiri Pilgrimage traditionally wear yellow dresses when visiting the Sivagiri Temple.
