The mosque is dedicated to Syedunnisa Beema Beevi (Beema Umma), a devout Muslim woman believed to possess divine powers. Beemapally Dargah Shereef is renowned for housing the tomb of Beema Umma and her son, Syedushuhadamaheen Abubacker.

The annual Uroos Chandanakudam festival at Beemapally, honouring Beema Beevi, draws thousands of people of all faiths. Spanning 10 days, the festival commences on the first day of Jama dul Akbar with the ceremonial flag hoisting. Devotees carry money-filled pots adorned with flowers and incense sticks, draped in white cloth with garlands around their necks. Known as Chandanakudam (sandal pot) due to the sandal paste adorning the pots, the festival features religious discussions, duffmuttu performances, and Islamic devotional songs. The climax involves a grand procession on the final day, with an elephant procession and music from the panchavadyam (five instruments).
A notable feature of Beemapally Dargah Shereef is its two wells, which remain unaffected by extreme drought. One well contains hot water while the other contains cold water, believed to possess medicinal properties effective in treating various ailments.
