Detailed Itineary

  • Day 1 : Arrive Kolkata

    Upon arrival in Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta), you’ll be greeted and taken to your hotel right in the heart of ‘old Calcutta’. Depending on when you arrive, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to relax and enjoy a free day at your own pace, with no scheduled activities. Overnight in Kolkata.

  • Day 2 : Kolkata Sightseeing

    After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel to escort you on your sightseeing adventure in Calcutta. You’ll visit the stunning Victoria Memorial, built to honour Queen Victoria’s 1901 Diamond Jubilee and completed about 20 years later.
    Explore the Park Street Cemetery, a fascinating maze of grand mausoleums surrounded by lush greenery, and the Marble Palace, which makes all of Calcutta’s other impressive buildings seem almost modest. You’ll also check out the Jain Temples in North Kolkata, known for their intricate marble inlays (just like the Taj Mahal), mirrored corridors, and a steady flow of worshippers.
    With striking statues, a constant stream of devoted worshippers, and temples dedicated to the goddess Kali lining the banks of the Hooghly River, this sacred area offers an immersive spiritual experience. Your guide can inform you in advance if any traditional rituals or ceremonies, such as offerings to the goddess, are expected during your visit.

  • Day 3 : Kolkata - Bagdogra

    Start your day with a transfer to Kolkata Domestic Airport for your flight to Bagdogra. Upon arrival, a friendly driver awaits to escort you on a scenic 3-hour drive to Darjeeling, beautifully nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. In the evening, take some time to soak in the enchanting atmosphere of this historic town.

  • Day 4 : Darjeeling Sightseeing

    Today is all about exploring the sights of Darjeeling! You’ll visit the serene Ghoom Monastery, marvel at the engineering wonder of the Batasia Loop, stroll through picturesque tea gardens, and check out the Himalayan Mountaineering Training Institute. Visit the Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre and the Zoological Gardens. There’s so much to see and do, and much of the town is perfect for a leisurely walk.

  • Day 5 : Tiger Hill, Darjeeling - Rumtek

    Get ready for an early start this morning! The reward is a breath-taking view of the Himalayan mountain range from the top of Tiger Hill, where you can witness the dawn breaking and the first rays of sunlight kissing the majestic peaks, including Kanchenjunga.
    After soaking in the views, head back to the hotel for breakfast. Later, check out and embark on a 4-hour drive to Sikkim, stopping for lunch along the way, and arriving in Rumtek by mid-afternoon. Surrounded by lush green rice paddies and just across the valley from the bustling capital of Sikkim, Gangtok, Rumtek offers a peaceful and relaxing retreat.

  • Day 6 : Rumtek and Gangtok Sightseeing

    Get ready for a full day of adventure as you dive into the stunning sights of this beautiful valley! Starting in Rumtek, where you can explore the impressive Tibetan Buddhist monastery complex. Later in the morning, we’ll make our way to Gangtok.
    While you’re there, visit the breath-taking Ganesh Tok viewpoint, the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, the lovely Botanical Gardens, and the charming local cottage industries showcasing traditional Sikkimese handicrafts. In the late afternoon, we’ll head back to Rumtek for a stroll through the rice paddies to a nearby village.

  • Day 7 : Excursion to Tsongo Lake

    Nestled high in the mountains, just about 20 km from the India–Tibet border, lies the stunning Tsomgo Lake (also known as Changgu Lake). The road to this scenic destination is steep yet well-maintained, and a special permit is required due to its proximity to a sensitive border area, adding to the sense of adventure and exclusivity. While you’re here, why not take a ride around the lake on a beautifully decorated yak! Afterward, we’ll return to Rumtek, where you can unwind for the rest of the day.

  • Day 8 : Rumtek - Kalimpong

    Leaving Sikkim, we’ll embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to Kalimpong. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the picturesque Dello Hills, Dr. Graham’s Children’s Home, vibrant flower nurseries, and even a handmade paper factory. You’ll be staying at the historic Hotel Himalaya, which was once the original launch point for adventurous mountaineers heading into the high Himalayas back in the early 20th century.

  • Day 9 : Kalimpong - Bagdogra / Bagdogra - Guwahati

    We’ll drive for about 3 hours to Bagdogra Airport, where you’ll catch a flight to Guwahati (flight times can vary depending on the day). Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted and then driven for 5 hours to Kaziranga National Park in Assam. After checking into your resort, you can relax and soak in the surroundings.

  • Day 10 & 11 : Kaziranga

    Welcome to Kaziranga, home to the largest population of Indian Rhinoceros on the planet! This stunning Kaziranga National Park, with its vast grassy plains, is one of India’s top wildlife spots and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll have the chance to embark on four safaris – two by jeep and two on the back of an elephant – giving you a fantastic opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures, along with tigers, wild elephants, and a diverse array of birds and mammals.

  • Day 12 : Kaziranga - Shillong

    After breakfast, it’s time to hit the road to Shillong, the charming capital of Meghalaya. Here, you’ll explore a local tribal market, where the Khasi tribal community thrives, and soak up the unique atmosphere of the town.

  • Day 13 : Shillong

    Excursion to Cherrapunjee. Get ready for an exciting day trip to Cherrapunjee, famously known as the wettest place on Earth! The drive is nothing short of breath-taking, with stunning views of deep gorges, rolling green hills, and lush tropical forests. You’ll discover fascinating cave systems carved into limestone, cascading waterfalls, and cliffs shrouded in clouds. In the evening, we’ll head back to Shillong.

    Today is all about exploring Shillong at your own pace. Start with a scenic drive to Shillong Peak, where you can take in panoramic views of the town and the surrounding hills.   • Day 15 : Shillong - Guwahati / Guwahati to Kolkata

    After an early breakfast, we’ll depart from Shillong and make our way to Guwahati Airport for your flight to Kolkata.
