Kerala Backwaters Tour Packages
The backwaters of Alleppey probably need little introduction here- if you’re thinking of a trip to India you probably already have a mental image of the backwaters stowed away somewhere.
This stretch of backwaters, from wide rivers to small streams, backed by vast rice paddies and fringed with swaying coconut palms, is one of India’s most famous- and photographed- regions. While houseboats are a popular option, there are many other ways to explore this region- small boat....
s, public ferries, or by bicycle or on foot along the endless riverside trails. This is a short tour which covers just Cochin and the backwaters if your time is very limited.
Day 1 - Arrival at Cochin
On arrival at Cochin International Airport you’ll be met and assisted with the transfer to your hotel. Staying in Fort Cochin means the historic buildings and bustling markets are close at hand. Overnight in Fort Cochin
Day 2 - Cochin - Alleppey - Houseboat cruise
Depart Cochin after breakfast and drive 2 hours or so down to Alleppey. Board your houseboat as your cruise begins- enjoy a welcome drink followed by lunch with further backwater cruising time in the afternoon. Sit and watch the world go by as your houseboat glides along- expect some serious relaxation time! Overnight on the houseboat
Day 3 - Alleppey backwaters
After breakfast on board (meals are prepared by your crew while on the boat), cruise a short distance further to your backwater resort or homestay (we will help you find the perfect accommodation to suit your tastes) and check-in here. From an on-land base you’ll be able to explore the backwaters more thoroughly by smaller boat or on foot, by bicycle etc. We can also arrange kayaking if this is of interest. There is always a lot to see around the backwaters as the lifestyle here is unique and the people particularly friendly, but if you want to sit and read under the shade of a coconut palm, there are few better places to do so. Overnight on the Alleppey backwaters
Day 4 - Alleppey sightseeing
Today you can make an excursion into Alleppey town, take a heritage walk, visit local craftspeople and stroll on the beach. The nearby fishing village of Mararikulam is also a nice place to visit. Overnight on the Alleppey backwaters
Day 5 - Alleppey- Cochin- Depart
You’ll need to leave Alleppey 4-5 hours before your flight’s departure time. Head to Cochin airport and fly either elsewhere in India or homeward.
