Munsiyari is trekking hub of Uttarakhand that is bestowed with beauty to lure trekkers to explore more. Situated at 2,200 meters, Munsiyari becomes the base for major treks that Uttarakhand is known for. At the same time it also has several moderate treks for the tourists apart from trekkers.

Thamari Lake is one such spot which offers a moderate trek to the natural lake and en route is filled with paper trees and rich flora. It is also known for Musk deer population. Visit to Birthi falls can also be a pleasant visit with family. The waterfall and its surroundings have a soothing effect on the visitors. Visit to the Nanda Devi Temple can be a mix of religion, architecture and scenic delight.

Built in ancient Kumaoni architecture, it also attracts treks with a hike that leads to beautiful surroundings. One must not miss Madkot, popular for its natural hot springs. It is believed that these springs can heal ailments as well. Maheshwari Kund is another lake that can be visited for its ethereal views of the mountains.


Apart from places to visit, Munsiyari offers a wide range of adventure activities that can be explored. Right from river rafting in Gori Ganga river to skiing in Panchuli peaks is a must look out for adventure seekers. Camping and bonfires are the all time favorites for tourists here to keep themselves warm and get off - beat experiences.

Munsiyari is also a paradise for bird watchers. Himalayan Woodpecker, Streaked laughing Thrush, Black Lored Tit are some of the birds to look out for. Hence, this small town becomes a hotspot for nature enthusiasts in all ways.

Climatic Condition

Munsiyari remains pleasant during the summer months of March to June when temperature ranges between 14° C and 24° C, while winters become harsh with snowfall right from November. Monsoons start from July and go on till mid – September, making it difficult for tourists to visit the hill station.
