Monsoon is coming to an end in Kerala and paying a visit to the Queen of hills, Munnar, is never a bad idea. Let me share my experience I had a day before. I set off for a weekend trip to Munnar. At this time of the year, it is wet, chilly and misty. I saw another face of Munnar, dark clouds skimming past the sun, the temperature dropping down to 10 degrees at times and the bright green landscape. A hot cup of tea is all what you need to enjoy your time when you hang around.

Let me help you with 5 best spots in Munnar to visit now-

Top Station [32 kms from Munnar town]

Located around 1700 meters above sea level, amidst the popular Kannan Devan Hills, Top Station is one of the favourite haunts of travellers in Munnar. A drive from the Munnar town to the Top Station expose you to some great views of the ginormous mountains of the Western Ghats and well-laid, gorgeous tea plantations. A must visit spot in Munnar all year round.

Echo Point [20 kms from Munnar town]

On the way to Top station from Munnar, do remember to stop by the Echo point. Yet another popular tourist spot offering some beautiful lakeside vistas of the Munnar Hills. Options for shopping are also available at Echo Point. Handicrafts, toys, home-made chocolates and other refreshments are available too to charge you up during your drive to Top Station.

Koviloor [40 kms from Munnar town]

8 kms from the Top Station is Koviloor. The way to Koviloor is amidst thick jungle and a 5 km drive through the road sandwiched between the sholas is exhilarating. As you drive along this route, you could literally hear the “Life of the Jungle”. As you reach Koviloor, make a visit to the Strawberry farms and try some wine. Koviloor is famous for Strawberry farm and fresh handmade Strawberry wine.

You got to enter your details at the Vattavada Shola National Park check-post before you enter the forest road. Cameras are strictly prohibited as it is not advised to stop by the roads here since wild animals cross the roads frequently.

Mattupetty [12 kms from Munnar town]

This is yet another spot on the way to Top Station. The Mattupetty Dam and the Mattupetty Lake are the major attraction here. It is a great chance to indulge yourselves in boating along the Mattupetty Lake with verdant hills and tea gardens against the backdrop. A 15 minute boating cost around INR 300 per 5 pax whereas a 15 minute speed boating cost 500 INR per 5 pax.

Devikulam [6kms from Munnar town]

For me, the most beautiful spot in Munnar, Devikulam is just 6 kms away from the Munnar town. Walk through the lush green tea plantations, take a bite of hot spicy corn available at local shops on road, take some cool snapshots.
