Yelagiri, a least explored tourist destination and therefore is still in its pristine condition, unpolluted. It has a lot to offer for adventure lovers and trekking enthusiasts. Attractions:

 

  • Punganur Lake:

 

Punganur Lake at Yelagiri is an artificial lake perfect for boating. Surrounded by lush vegetation and a beautifully maintained garden, the boating experience here is truly entertaining.

 

  • Nature Park:

 

Spread across 12 acres and with walkways laid out for the visitors, the Nature Park at Yelagiri is another enjoyable way of exploring nature at Yelagiri.

 

  • Swamimalai Trek:

 

Swamimalai is the highest peak at Yelagiri. A hard trek to the top is worth it as you are exposed to some breath taking sceneries while standing atop. There is no network coverage and no residents around which provides you a complete escape to the heart of Mother Nature. There is a Murugan temple at the top and therefore stone steps are laid out on the way up to the Swamimalai peak.

 

Climate:

 

Summer starts by March and ends in June. The temperature may go upto 34°c. Nights are cooler and pleasant.

 

Monsoon begins by the month of July and continues till September. It is not recommended to pay a visit to Yelagiri at this time of the year, as the rain makes it harsh for the visitors to enjoy the great outdoors.

 

Winter season hits Yelagiri by November and lasts till February. Yelagiri is cool and pleasant during winter, and that pleasant atmosphere mixed with the sheer beauty of this place makes it an awesome destination for you to hang out.

 

How to Reach?

 

By Air:

 

Bangalore International Airport is the nearest airport to Yelagiri which is 192 kms away. From the airport grab a taxi to reach Yelagiri.

 

By Rail:

 

Jolarpettai Railway station is 21 kms away from the Yelagiri hillstation.

 

By Road:

 

Yelagiri is connected by road to all major cities and therefore is easily accessible by car or by public transport.
