The Sarkara Devi Temple is considered one of the most important temples in India. This ancient temple is situated at the south of Chirayinkeezhu, Trivandrum. The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Badrakali, a form of Goddess Parvathi.


The ancient temple of Sarkara Devi is a Hindu temple that is famed for the Kaliyoot festival. This temple is credited with the religious and cultural importance of the Kaliyoot Festival that is celebrated annually during the month of March.


The Attingal Ranis are the ones who conduct the Kaliyot festival. This honor was bestowed upon them by the Travancore Raja, Marthanda Varma. The Ranis are known to be given independent status among the royal household.
