History :

The Sudarsana Chakra is the most powerful weapon of Lord Vishnu and he once sent it out to the Nether world to destroy the demon Jalandarasura. As the discus emerged from the river Cauvery, Lord Brahma installed it on the banks of the river.

The Chakra was shining so brightly that it diminished the brightness of the Sun.The Sun then began to shine with all its might but the Chakra began to observe these rays. The Sun then prayed to the Lord to forgive him and the Lord appeared from the Sudarsana chakra with all bright granting the Sun Darshan.In gratitude the Sun god built this temple.

Timing

The temple is open between 7.00 am to 12.00 pm and between 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm

Dress Code

No specific dress code is recommended for a visit to this temple. Still, costumes covering upper arms and legs are suggested as a mark of respect to the temple customs.

Festivals

The Lord on his Vahan, Sri Garuda, grants Darshan to his devotees on every Magam and Chithirai star days. The divine wedding of the Lord and Mother Goddess takes place on Akshaya Trithiya. The float festival is conducted on Vaikasi Vishakam day.
