Far less visited than the famous beaches of Goa to the north and Kerala to the south, the long coast of Karnataka is home to some wonderful seaside destinations. Here is a sampling of one way to experience several of them
Mangalore - Gokarna
Depart Mangalore and drive around 6 hours north, along the coast to Gokarna, a famous beach enclave and home to a thriving hippie scene for decades. Overnight in Gokarna.
Gokarna
A day mostly to relax, but with time to visit Mahabaleshwar temple. Perhaps one of the reasons Gokarna is so popular with spiritual seekers is that the beach itself is contained within a rocky promontory in the shape of an Om symbol. Sunset along this coast is routinely spectacular as the sun sinks into the Arabian Sea. Overnight in Gokarna.
Gokarna - Karwar
Leave after breakfast and drive a couple of hours north to Karwar. This is a great spot for snorkelling, overnight at Karwar
Karwar - Goa Depart
According to your flight schedule, drive north to Goa airport and depart- it will take around 3 hours to reach the airport.
