Prasanthi Nilayam is the main ashram of Shri Sathya Sai Baba, which is situated in the village of Puttaparthi, 125 kms away from north-east of Bangalore.

About Shri Sathya Sai Baba

Sri Sathya Sai Baba is one of the greatest and most revered spiritual leaders of 20th century. He has spread the message of looking in the direction of God and moving on the pathway of spirituality all over the world.

He has never aimed to begin a religion and nor did he suggest his followers to indulge into a specific religion. He was born in 1926 in a small village called Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. Due to his simple teachings, baba grabbed attention of many people and soon became popular for his miraculous tasks and teachings.

History Of Ashram

Prasanthi Nilayam was constructed years back and the very purpose of this Ashram is to inculcate social harmony and peace in the minds of devotees visiting here.The most prominent feature of this huge commune is the assembly hall where Sai Baba gives Darshan to his followers. The eye-catching edifice of the tranquil ashram magnetizes many people on the eve of Sai Baba’s birthday.

Temples And Shrines In Ashram

There are several shrines and temples in Prasanthi Nilayam, as well as the Darshan hall and the Mandir. After entering in the ashram, one can see temple to Navagrahas, the nine planets, secondly, the Ganesha temple that is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and other holy places like Lakshmi temple, Gayathri temple are built inside the ashram.

About Sathya Sai Central Trust

Sri Sathya Sai Baba Charitable Trust was founded by Sri Sathya Sai Baba in year 1972. The activities of the trust are divided into four sections- helping poor, health care, drinking water and education. The trust has been performing a number of welfare activities like medical facility to poor people, free secondary level education, and supply of drinking water, construction of museums, convention centres and community halls etc.
