If time permits you can pay a visit to the nearby place called Pitchavaram. It is the only place in Tamil Nadu where the mangrove forests are available which are the second largest in the world. You can go for a boat ride lasting for an hour in the backwaters and spend some precious moments watching thousands of birds migrating here between November and February.
