{"id":3844,"date":"2014-07-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-07-25T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianpanorama.in\/?p=3844"},"modified":"2025-12-11T14:49:41","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T14:49:41","slug":"ancient-kashmir-fort-opens-to-visitors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianpanorama.in\/blog\/ancient-kashmir-fort-opens-to-visitors\/","title":{"rendered":"Ancient Kashmir fort opens to visitors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hari Parbat Fort in Kashmir has opened to the public for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The ancient fort&rsquo;s origins date back as far as 1590, when the Mughal emperor Akbar had the outer wall built as the first stage of a project to create a new capital called Nager Nagor within the walls.<\/p>\n<p>That project was never completed, but construction continued in 1808 when the present fort was built under the reign of Shuja Shan Durrani.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays it sits above the city of Srinagar.
