Hailed as the summer capital of India, Srinagar is the capital of the Jammu and Kashmir state. The Mughals had a special love towards this beautiful land. Jahangir, son of the most popular Mughal ruler, Shah Jahan frequented Srinagar and was his favourite summer retreat.

The Mughals love for Kashmir is evident in the form of gorgeous Mughal gardens spread all over Kashmir and the largest and perhaps the most beautiful Mughal gardens, the Shalimar Bagh is located at Srinagar along the famous Dal Lake. A shikara ride or a houseboat ride along the twin lakes of Dal and Nigeen located at the heart center of Srinagar, are the most exciting ways to enjoy the sights of Kashmir.

Srinagar is stunning all throughout the year, however, it transforms itself into a wonderland during Winter and is at its epic best. The Mountains cover themselves with glistening snow offering some breath taking views of the landscape. All you need is a hot cup of coffee and an open mind to give way to Srinagar’s angelic beauty.

The Dal Lake, the Shalimar Bagh, the Nishat Bagh, the Pari Mahal, the Shankaracharya Temple and the Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden, the largest of its kind in the whole world, are among the most popular sightseeing places in Srinagar.

Glorious -Gulmarg

Gulmarg is a perfect mix of beauty, tranquillity and adventure. Among the travel community this heavenly piece of land is known as the meadow of flowers. Snuggled in the valley of Pir Panjal mountain ranges of the great Himalayas, Gulmarg is synonymous to natural beauty. While Summer sees blooming daisies, bluebells and buttercups, in winter the snow - capped mountains of Gulmarg ring bells for adventure.

Gulmarg is one of the world’s highest and best ski resorts where you could enjoy a great run down the alpine slopes, upto an altitude of 2300 meters. It boasts of the world’s highest golf course as well, set at a height of 8700 meters.

That is not it, the famous Gandola ride in Gulmarg is one of the highest cable car rides in the whole world which takes you to a height of 12500 meters exposing you to some of the most unbelievably ecstatic sights of the Himalayan Mountains. Paradisal Pahalgam

The Valley of Shepherds where everything turns out to be green

Imagine tall deodars, pine trees and fir set along the banks of a glistening glacial river, surrounded by ginormous mountains, you see Pahalgam. The charming landscape of Pahalgam has served as a setting for many popular Bollywood movies and is still one of the prime choices for the movie makers, thanks to its stunning beauty.

It is set at the confluence of the West and East Lidder, a 73 km glacier river originating from the Kolhoi glacier. 85km from the capital city Srinagar, Pahalgam is a pilgrim getaway to the famous Amarnath Cave Temple. Tens of thousands of pilgrims from all part of the country and abroad make their way to the holy Amarnath from Pahalgam.

It also hosts a 2 day long snow festival which sees visitors from all over the world. It is a great opportunity for adventure travellers to get indulged in skiing, snow sledging and other adrenaline triggering activities. Pahalgam also serves as a base point for many famous trek routes as well.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Pahalgam for the adventure hunters is the white river rafting options. The town is the only spot in the country which conducts white river rafting all throughout the year where travellers glide down the winding Lidder River in sheer excitement.
