Sikkim

Bordering China Tibet and Nepal, Sikkim straddles the Himalayan mountains in the north-east of India. Sikkim was an independent kingdom until 1975 when it became part of India. The Sikkimese culture shares many common elements with that of neighbouring Tibet and here Buddhism is the primary religion. In Sikkim you will be overwhelmed by the beautiful scenery, and humbled by the friendly simplicity of its people. Activities can range from trekking in the mountains, village and monastery visits and riding a Yak around Tsomgo Lake.
